Minor Passport - Reissue of Indian Passport for Minor Child

(36 pages booklet, validity-5 years)

  • A minor child below 15 years of age is issued a passport with five years validity or till the minor attains the age of 18 years. Children between the ages of 15 and 18 have the option to apply for a minor passport valid until he/she attains 18 years of age or a full validity passport (10 years).
  • A duly filled online application form (printout) available at https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in/ should be submitted at VFS Centre. All particulars in the application should tally with those in the current passport. The application should be duly filled in and signed by both parents and the child should affix his / her signature or thumb impression in the signature box. Passport will be retained during the period of the service.

Documents required:

  1. Duly completed and printed application form (https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in)
  2. Two white background colour photographs with size 2” x 2” (51mm x 51mm) (Please refer to the photo specification mentioned in general guidelines)
  3. Current Passport in original along with self-attested copies of first (personal particulars), last (address) pages and any other endorsement pages and visa page of the passport and additional booklets, if any.
  4. Copy of Birth Certificate
  5. Self-attested copies of passports, UK entry visa and Biometric Resident Card (BRP) Cards of both the parents (Originals must be shown for verification)
  6. Annexure D to be filled by parents [Download]
  7. Annexure C in case of single parent [Download]. If child’s custody order is not available, Annexure C must be notarized. In case of single parent, the application will not be accepted under ‘Tatkaal’ scheme.
  8. Declaration for change in appearance for minor applicants [Download].
  9. Copy of proof of current address.
  10. In case of change in address, self-attested copy of address-proof like Election Commission ID card, water, electricity or telephone bill, nationalized bank passbook with 6 months bank statement (with permanent address mentioned in the passbook attested and signed by bank official along with applicant photograph) and Aadhaar card issued by UIDAI, Government of India will be accepted. For minors, parent's passport copy will suffice to change address.

P.S.:-  Originals must be produced for verification at the time of submission of application and all photocopies must be self-attested.

Important:

Kindly note that if any person (either FATHER OR MOTHER) has ceased to be a citizen of India under sub-section (1) of Section 8 of the Citizenship Act, 1955 due to renouncement of Indian citizenship, every minor child of that person shall cease to be a citizen of India under sub- section (2) of Section 8 of the Citizenship Act, 1955. However, such child may, within one year after attaining full age, make a declaration in the prescribed form and manner that he/ she wishes to resume Indian citizenship.
