Indian agriculture sector has come a long way since independence. Today its the top producer and exporter in a wide range of food and commodities. During the last two decades, the food consumption pattern in India has significantly changed leading to an impressive growth of agro and food processing industry. Today the size of Indian food retail market is valued over $500 billion and agro exports at $53 billion. The Indian food processing industry is the world’s sixth largest, growing at 11%, and contributing to around 14 per cent of manufacturing GDP, 13 per cent of India’s exports and 6 per cent of investment.

The food processing industry in India plays a vital role in the country’s economy and is an important contributor to the growth and development of the agriculture sector. However, the potential of growth, value creation, trade, investment, technology and entrepreneurship development in agro, food and food processing sector is yet to be fully exploited. This requires investments and innovations, business and technical collaborations and global partnerships on one hand and showcasing the strengths of Indian agri food sector to the world as reliable sourcing partner on the other hand. Towards these objectives, and supported by APEDA and the Ministry of Commerce, ICFA is organizing India Food 2024, comprised of a food business summit, CEOs Round Tables, food business awards, millets show, country focussed events, launch of new programs and innovations, start-ups pavilion and much more.

ICFA is also mobilising 300 plus foreign buyers under the MAI funding support from the Ministry of Commerce. This could be a good  platform for networking, market access, and information dissemination, creating mutually beneficial opportunities for organizations and companies and traders of food and agro commodities. If there are reasonable number of participants from that country, ICFA could host a focused business seminar and facilitate B2B meetings, collaborations and partnerships.
