OCI Card

Please apply online at https://ociservices.gov.in/ and submit print of application, specified photos, documentation, fees at the VFS Centre. Please see website of M/s. VFS Global www.vfsglobal.com/India/UK for detailed information. OCI Card is approved by the authorities in India and takes 4-6 weeks. OCI Card applications submitted under Foreign Spouse category may take more than 4-6 weeks for processing. OCI Miscellaneous services take 7-10 days. Delay beyond the specific time frame cannot be ruled out owing to certain technical reasons. All applicants are advised to book their travel only after obtaining the OCI Card.

Applicants can check the status of their application on the link https://ociservices.gov.in/ When the OCI application has been processed and is ready for collection, please follow collection procedure given in VFS Website: http://www.vfsglobal.com/india/uk/OCI.html OCI Cards will be delivered by Post/Courier only by VFS once approved and ready. The High Commission of India, London will not be responsible for loss or delay of the documents.

Applicants are required to upload supporting documents viz., applicants passport, proper marriage certificate and spouses OCI card/valid Indian Passport.

Re-issuance of OCI is mandatory every time passport is renewed up to the age of 20 years, and once after completing 50 years of age in view of frequent biological changes in facial features in this age group. Please view the full requirements for re-issue of OCI at the following link

(1) In the case of minor children the Mission needs the signatures of both the parents on the OCI application at Page 2. We also need copies of the parents self-attested current passports to verify their signatures.

(2) All married OCI applicantsmust provide a copy of the registered marriage certificate to verify spouse name/details, that now needs to be added/printed on the new OCI card.

(3)Divorce cases: The minor children will not be eligible for an OCI without a written consent from both the parents (with current passport copies for ID proof) coupled with a UK Family Court order (specifically directed at the High Commission of India) issued towards obtaining a lifelong visa (OCI) to India, which allows the minors to stay outside the UK/England jurisdiction for an indefinite period(as opposed to the default 1 month or less issued to minors in divorce/separation cases).

  • Applicants applying for OCI card under Foreign Spouse Category are required to attend a personal interview at the High Commission of India, India House, Aldywch London , WC2B4NA along with his/her spouse before submitting application at VFS Centre. After applying for OCI card online under this category, applicant along with his/her spouse have to visit High Commission of India, London between 11-12 Noon on any working day along with copy of application and all other supporting documents [both originals and copies] before submitting application at VFS Centre. There is no need to take prior appointment at High Commission for personal interview. Rest of procedure regarding submission of application/fees at VFS Centre will remain same.
  • No journalistic activities can be undertaken on OCI Card. For undertaking journalistic/documentary related activities inIndia, OCI card holder should seek Jvisa on passport. Violation of these provisionsmay lead to cancellation of the OCI card/ status.
