High Commissioner Mr. Y.K. Sinha made his maiden visit to Belfast on March 7-9, 2018

High Commissioner Mr. Y.K. Sinha made his maiden visit to Belfast on March 7-9, 2018, where he had interactions with political, academic, business and community leaders in Northern Ireland.

High Commissioner met with Rt. Hon. Arlene Foster (Former First Minister and Leader of the Democratic Unionist Party, Northern Ireland) and Mr Philip Weir, Special Advisor to Mrs Foster, along with Honorary Consul of India to Northern Ireland, Lord Diljit Singh Rana.

High Commissioner Sinha visited two leading universities in Northern Ireland-Queen's University and Ulster University. At Queen’s University, he met with Prof. James McElnay, Acting Vice Chancellor and with Prof. Stan Scott, QUB, Vice-Chancellor's Envoy to India. High Commissioner and Mrs. Girija Sinha also visited Ulster University and interacted with Prof. Patrick Nixon, Vice Chancellor, Prof Alistair Adair, Deputy Vice Chancellor. High Commissioner also interacted with Indian students and made a special visit to the outstanding Cinematic and Animation Department at Ulster University, Belfast. 
In High Commissioner’s meeting with the Director of Trade for Invest Northern Ireland, Ms Alison Gowdy, the two discussed possibilities of enhanced economic and business cooperation between India and Northern Ireland.

On the second day of his visit, Lord Rana also hosted a dinner for the High Commissioner and Mrs. Sinha where cross section of political and business leaders and other leading personalities of Northern Ireland, including Mrs. Fionnuala Jay O’Boyle, Lord Lieutenant of County Borough of Belfast, and former Finance Minister Mr. Máirtín Ó Muilleoir were present.
