High Commission of India, London celebrated the 76th Independence Day with a flag hoisting ceremony at the India House on August 15, 2022. Acting High Commissioner Shri Sujit Ghosh hoisted the national Flag followed by singing of national anthem. Thereafter, Acting High Commissioner read out President of India’s address to the nation. This was followed by singing of patriotic songs and felicitation of winners of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav Quiz Competition.

Large number of Indian diaspora and Friends of India joined the event along with the High Commission officials. Acting High Commissioner also unveiled the model of Light Combat Aircraft, Tejas, that has been built by Hindustan Aeronauticals Limited during the event.  

In the evening of August 15, 2022, High Commission organized an Independence Day reception to celebrate the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence and the port call of Indian naval ship INS Tarangini to London. Naval Adviser Commodore Anil Jaggi, Acting High Commissioner Shri Sujit Ghosh and the Chief Guest Lieutenant General Charlie Stickland, Chief of Joint Operations from UK addressed the gathering. The cultural part of the event included Santoor recital, Kathak dance performance, medley of classical dances of India and a live Bhangra performance. Guests were also given a tour of the ship.
