Press Release - 8th International Day of Yoga celebrations organised by High Commission of India, London at the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple at Neasden on June 21, 2022

High Commission of India, London celebrated the 8th International Day of Yoga at the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple at Neasden on June 21, 2022. 
 
High Commissioner of India H.E. Mrs. Gaitri Issar Kumar,  Lord Rami Ranger and East Harrow MP Bob Blackman addressed the gathering on the occasion. 
 
Yoga enthusiasts from all over London joined the celebrations. 
 
Underlining the contribution of Yoga towards wellbeing, High Commissioner encouraged the participants to make Yoga a part of their daily regime. Lord Rami Ranger termed Yoga as a gift from India to the world. MP Bob Blackman shared his positive experience with Yoga. This was followed by broadcast of PM’s address to the nation on the occasion of Yoga Day. 
 
The event continued with sessions on Common Yoga Protocol, balance postures performance by young World Yoga champion Mastr. Ishwar and pranayam (breathing exercises).
 
In addition, International Yoga Day celebrations were hosted by Indian Consulates in Scotland and Wales and local yoga organizations in Northern Ireland. 
 
Earlier, in the run up to IDY, 2022, High Commission and Consulates of India in UK organized yoga sessions at iconic locations in London - including at the famous Holland Park . For the first time, IDY was hosted at a British Army establishment, the Wellington Barracks in Central London where there was enthusiastic  participation and requests made for further sessions.
