India UK Stories Competition Guidelines

ARTICLE 1 – ORGANISATION OF THE COMPETITION

The purpose of the photography campaign is to celebrate the positive impact of Indian communities across the UK, and it will run between Wednesday 13th November and Thursday 14th December 2024.

The competition invites participants to join the celebration by sharing images of Indian culture, heritage, arts, and business across the UK. Participants may only lodge a single contribution via Instagram, Facebook, or X (i.e., they cannot submit on multiple platforms).

The High Commission of India in London is hereinafter referred to as the ‘Organiser’.

The ‘Participant’ in the competition is hereinafter referred to as ‘the Participant’.

The competition will conclude with the selection of a winner and two runners-up (i.e., second and third place), determined by the High Commissioner of India in London.

Internal processes may be used to review submissions and shortlist entries, ahead of a final decision by the High Commissioner. A full list of processes and judgment criteria will be outlined in the guidelines document.

Participation in this challenge is not linked to any purchase obligation and does not require a registration fee of any kind.

ARTICLE 2 – CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

The competition is free to enter and open to all online participants in the UK.

To take part, participants must have either a Facebook, Instagram, or X account in ‘public’ mode, and open DMs (to facilitate contact between the HCI and the respective winner and runners-up). The Participant must be a permanent resident of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Submissions must be made between Wednesday 13th November 2024 and 23:59 on Thursday 14th December 2024.

By participating, the Participant confirms they hold all necessary rights to the image they publish and agree to all relevant legislation.

The Participant accepts unreservedly and without compensation that their image may be reused on HCI-administered websites and social networks.

ARTICLE 3 – DESCRIPTION OF PHOTOGRAPHS

Participants are invited to submit a photograph showing the positive impact India has delivered across the UK, focusing on six key themes: community events, Indian heritage, arts and culture, the power of family, diaspora businesses, and participation in sports.

To enter, participants must post their photographs on X, Instagram, or Facebook, using the hashtag #UKIndiaStories.

The photograph must be creative, original, and free from offensive or inappropriate content.

Participants must ensure they have all necessary rights to submit their entry, including written authorization for anyone featured in the entry.

The photograph must be created safely and responsibly, considering all participants' well-being.

ARTICLE 4 – DESIGNATION OF THE WINNER AND RUNNERS-UP

The Organiser will announce the winner and two runners-up on Monday 6th January 2025.

Criteria: Photographs will be judged based on relevance to the campaign’s themes, originality and creativity, and engagement metrics (likes, shares, comments).

Winners will be contacted via their social media accounts on Monday 6th January 2025 and announced on HCI’s social networks.

ARTICLE 5 – PRIZES

Prizes will be announced shortly.

ARTICLE 6 – IDENTIFICATION OF WINNERS

The winners authorize the verification of their identity (via a copy of an identity document) and compliance with these rules.

Any rule violation or fraud will lead to disqualification.

ARTICLE 7 – CHANGE OF COMPETITION DATE

The organiser will not be liable if forced to cancel the competition due to uncontrollable events.

ARTICLE 8 – RESPONSIBILITIES

Participation implies acceptance of these rules, understanding the limitations of internet use, and risks like data misappropriation or contamination by viruses.

The organiser is not liable for any incident or misuse related to internet or computer issues.

Participants are responsible for protecting their data against attacks.

ARTICLE 9 – INTELLECTUAL, LITERARY AND ARTISTIC PROPERTY RIGHTS

Participants must guarantee that the photograph is an original creation and does not infringe others' intellectual property.

The Participant accepts that images may be broadcast by the organiser.

ARTICLE 10 – PERSONAL DATA

All personal data collected will be processed per the Organiser’s Privacy Policy.

Personal data will be retained for the time required to organise the competition and deliver prizes.
